Quote from St Anthony on the humility of Jesus

O Father, in your Truth (that is to say, in your Son, humbled, needy and homeless) you have humbled me. He was humbled in the womb of the Virgin, needy in the manger of the sheep, and homeless on the wood of the Cross. Nothing so humbles the proud sinner as the humility of Jesus Christ’s humanity.
— St Anthony of Padua

Exorcist Father Chad Ripperger has said that in conversations with demons during exorcisms they have mentioned that what gets them is not that Jesus dies on the cross, it’s the humility with which Jesus submitted himself to suffering and death on the cross, moved by love. The Son of God, creator of the universe, humbly sacrificed himself for our salvation. In this quote, St Anthony reflects on Jesus’ humility, an example for all of us. As part of my daily prayers I always pray “Thank you Lord Jesus for the humility with which you sacrificed on the cross for us.”
